Last Minute Defeat For Notts
Dover Athletic 1-0 Notts County (National League) 03.10.20
Notts County were beaten in their opening match of the season at Dover Athletic after a 90th minute goal gave the home side all three points.
It was a wet day down in Kent as Notts rained in on their opponents goal with O’Brien firing wide on 17 minutes the best of the early exchanges. Roberts was next to test the home sides goalkeeper with a shot well saved and Brindley on the half hour went close with a deflected effort going wide.
Slocombe was forced to save well after the break when he blocked Riggs goal bound header from point blank range the first real effort from Dover whilst Roberts curled over at the other end after good work from Alex Lacey and Wes Thomas.
Reeves went close on his first league start for the Magpies when his driving run through the midfield ended with him shooting wide before another Cal Roberts effort was well saved on 62 minutes.
As the clock ran down Roberts again dazzled before firing straight at the keeper and as it looked like the game would be heading for a scoreless draw a corner by Dover was headed home by Ransom for a late late winner gave the home side all three points.
A sickening blow to Notts who played well and created chances but couldn’t convert them as they slip to agonising last minute defeat.
County: Slocombe, Brindley, Reeves, O’Brien (Boldewijn 85), Thomas (Knowles 80), Doyle, Wootton, Roberts, Rawlinson, Chicksen, Lacey.
