Stags Look For First Win Against Barrow

Mansfield Town are in One Call Stadium action tonight as the Stags face newly promoted Barrow with both teams still looking for their first win of the season.

Graham Coughlan’s men yesterday found out they would be travelling to League One giants Sunderland in the first round of the FA Cup next month but tonight’s task is very much bread and butter as the team in 21st position of English footballs fourth tier take on a side in 19th who are level on points with Mansfield with almost an identical record so far.

Barrow like the Stags have drew five of their eight matches and drew with Walsall 2-2 at the weekend as Mansfield drew on the road at Cheltenham.

Mansfield will be without Ollie Clarke and Joe Riley through injury whilst Corey O’Keefe and Mal Benning are self-isolating.

Even though Barrow have only just returned to the football league after 48 years The two teams actually met as recently as 2013 when the Stags were playing in the National League. Mansfield winning 4-0 last time out in Barrow whilst the last match at Field Mill during the same season ended in a thumping 8-1 win for the Stags.

A result like that tonight might do very nicely.

For the home side pressure will be on Graham Coughlan for his side to turn performances into results. A spirited display at the weekend saw the Stags as largely the better side against one of the divisions early season front runners in Cheltenham, scoring goals has so far been the problem which is something the side will hope to put right tonight.

Kick off is at 7pm with the match available to watch on iFollow.
