Stags Beaten At Carlisle
Carlisle United 1-0 Mansfield Town (EFL League Two) 15.12.20
It was a pointless visit to Cumbria as Mansfield were beaten by a 39th minute Omari Patrick winner as Nigel Clough’s men taste a first defeat in five games at Brunton Park.
An entertaining start to the match provided opportunity at both ends the best of which halted by Ryan Sweeney who superbly cleared off the line from Carlisle’s Joe Riley on fifteen minutes.
On 21 minutes Lapslie tried his luck but Farman was equal to it, tipping behind for a corner the best of Stags first half efforts and as half time approached it was the home side who would take the lead as Patrick finished from Armer’s cross into the box.
In the second half Mansfield had half chances before Riley tested Stech at the other end. As the game tensed up there were bookings for an altercation involving both sets of players on 65 minutes and as the home side finished stronger, both Patrick and Riley were both denied from adding to the score.
In the end a tough night up North as the Stags were beaten by a solid team on of the form sides in the division, whilst defeat leaves the Stags no better in the table, the performance at least suggests the side are mixing it with the division’s best.
