Rockets Sign Villani

Trent Rockets have signed 26 year old Australian International Elyse Villani for their women’s cricket team to compete in next years hundred ball competition.

Villani becomes the fourth big signing for the Trent Bridge based team joining fellow Australia international teammate Sophie Molineux to Nottingham as well as England duo Natalie Sciver and Katherine Brunt.

Averaging over 28 with the bat Villani who is number three on the list of Australia’s all time run scorers in women’s international T20 cricket said “I’m really looking forward to playing for Trent Rockets. I had some great times playing for Loughborough Lightening in the Kia Super League and it will be nice to link up with Head Coach Sal Briggs again”.

Villani who is currently captain of Melbourne Stars stated “It’s always hugely exciting to play in tournaments like The Hundred – you can see it’s going to be a really good standard of cricket from the players already announced and it will be nice to play alongside Nat and Katherine, as well as Soph, of course.”

21 year old spin bowler Sophie Molineaux has 17 women’s T20 internationals to her name bowling at a healthy 21.37 whilst Nat Scriver has played over 100 times for England across all formats and the even more experienced Katherine Brunt is regarded as one of England’s best ever bowlers taking over 200 wickets for her country in Test/ODI & T20.

Trent Rockets will announce more player prior to 31 May 2020.
