Five Star Performance From Beeston

Beeston Hockey Club beat East Grinstead 5-1 on Sunday to leapfrog their opponents and go sixth in the table of the Mens Hockey League Premier Division.

The Bees took the lead through a penalty corner when Adam Dixon netted after just seven minutes but an Andy Piper field goal had the scores level on 13.

Nick Park gave Beeston the lead after 23 before Dixon scored his second of the game converting another penalty corner on 35 and Chris Proctor made it four early in the second half before finishing off the rout on 66 minutes for a valuable victory only the third of the season for the Bees.

News wasn’t quite as good for the Ladies who were beaten 2-1 in their match at East Grinstead on Saturday.

Tess Howard gave the home side a first half lead before Sian Emslie equalised on 59 but just five minutes later Sophie Bray hit the winner for the third placed team whilst Beeston stay in eighth.

Next up for the ladies is a trip to Bowdon on Saturday whilst the men host Brooklands University of Manchester on Sunday.
