Notts Draw Blanks With Dover
Notts County 0-0 Dover Athletic (National League) 18.01.20
Notts County couldn’t find a way past a stern Dover defence on Saturday as the Magpies were held to a 0-0 draw at Meadow Lane.
Neal Ardley’s men are sixth in the table and are now unbeaten in nine in all competitions but a nil nil draw with the Kent based outfit saw opporunity to close in on those above them missed.
In a game that saw few chances the visiting Goalkeeper denied Wes Thomas and Kyle Wootton before Enzio Boldewijn struck a post with a late free kick in what was the homesides chance to take all thee points.
Manager Neal Ardley said after the match “Maybe we lacked a bit of zip but we had enough chances to get our noses in front,”
We weren’t at our best but still created three or four good opportunities to win the game – we just didn’t take them.
“It wasn’t a fantastic game to watch but we defended balls into our box well, which is what you have to do.
“If we keep clean sheets we’ll always have a chance of winning games but the moments weren’t there today and it wasn’t to be.”
New defensive signing Josh Lacey impressive in recent weeks for Notts at centre half stated ““Defensively we were solid but just couldn’t get it over the line for the win.”
“I think we’re defending well as a team. We’re very switched on and concentrated from set pieces.”
“If we can keep the communication and organisation that we have got, hopefully we’ll keep this unbeaten streak going.”
Notts next game is at Dagenham & Redbridge who they beat in the FA Trophy last weekend this Saturday back in the National League.
County: Slocombe, McCrory, Brindley, Rose, Rawlinson, Lacey, Boldewijn, Doyle, Wootton, Thomas (Dennis 69), Osborne (Tyson 79).
