Forest Face Bees Tonight

In a season of big matches Nottingham Forest face their next biggest match of the season as they travel to Brentford tonight in a bid to leapfrog Fulham in third and close the gap on West Brom and Leeds at the top of the Championship table.

Over six games Forest are the form team in the division right now having taken 14 points from a possible 18 but over ten games Brentford lead the way in the second tier of English football’s form with 20 points since the end of November which is more than anyone else at the same level.

On Saturday the Bees were in FA Cup action losing to Leicester by a single goal at Griffin Park but with a much changed team from usual as their focus clearly lies with tonight and Nottingham Forest and in continuing with their own playoff/promotion push under quirky German gaffer Thomas Frank.

A fresh Forest last played a week ago against Reading and will be hoping to take something tonight from London as both teams look to consolidate positions in the top six with anything but defeat for either a reasonable outcome in the grand scheme of things.

Forest have been linked with seemingly every available striker in football over the last few weeks as latest rumours point to Strasbourg’s Nuno da Costa. We’ve had Nakhi Wells, Glenn Murray, Dwight Gayle, Che Adams and more but the biggest coup of the transfer window might actually be in keeping one of their own.

Matt Cash has been linked with AC Milan amongst others, a £15m price fee would be hard to turn down for Forest but Cash is key to the way Forest play and keeping him for the remainder of the clubs promotion push would also be beneficial to Sabri Lamouchi and his sides cause.

The Frenchman ahead of the game stated “We have 18 games to play and we just have to focus on the next one. It will be a fantastic game against one of the best teams in the league and we know it will be very difficult. We have a really tough schedule coming up and we need to make sure we are concentrated on each match.”

Kick off is 7:45pm and will also likely be the last time Nottingham Forest visit Griffin Park as Brentford from next year will play their football at a newly built venue close to Kew Bridge.
