Forest Legend Harkin Joins Wolves

Lyndsey Harkin is now a member of the Wolf Pack after the now former, Nottingham Forest captain, swapped the East Midlands for the Black Country over this past weekend.

Harkin, a Red through-and-through, has enjoyed two, lengthy spells with her home-town club, finally leading them to promotion to what is now, WSL2, after a double-winning season last time around.

Now though, when the 2025/26 season kicks off, Harkin will not be leading out her beloved Nottingham Forest, she’ll be part of Daniel McNamara’s promotion-chasing Wolverhampton Wanderers side, who’ve enjoyed many a battle with Forest over recent years.

Over her two spells in the famous, Garibaldi Red, Harkin, who started playing for the club in her teens, appeared more than 300 times for a club she is now an Ambassador for, a club that, during her second spell, captained to FAWNL Plate, and a double-double, winning the FAWNL Cup, and Northern Premier Division, in both 2023 and 2025.

Although there was a brief spell with Doncaster Belles sandwich between, Harkin has registered fifteen seasons with Nottingham Forest, saying of her decision; “The overwhelming emotion is pride having played for this club for such a long time and getting to wear the badge so many times, it’s been a huge honour not just for myself but for my family as well.

“It’s been amazing. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the Club and what they have done for me and my family.

“Being from Nottingham and growing up here, it’s important for me to give back to the community. There’s a lot of young girls growing up in the city and I would like to share my experiences and guide them on their journey.

“To the Forest fans, I want to say a huge thank you for supporting us through all of the ups and downs, you’ve been here through it all and to lift the trophy at The City Ground at the end of the season was the icing on the cake.”

She’s not hung up those boots though, far from it in-fact, with the Forest legend, and her new club, announcing that, when the new season does start again, she’ll be donning the Old Gold of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wolves boss, Daniel McNamara, said of the arrival of Harkin: “We’re absolutely delighted to have brought Lyndsey to Wolves as it was probably one that’s come out of the blue a little bit.

“We all thought Lyndsey was going to remain at Forest, but when I heard she was potentially interested in the move, it was an absolute no brainer to bring her to Wolves.

“It was one of those where if you get the opportunity, you’ve got to strike quick and get it done, so having her here is definitely a bonus.” Red full piece via the Wolves website, HERE  and Harkin’s full, first interview, HERE.

There’s a handful of former Reds in the Wolves squad now, with Harkin joining Charlotte Greengrass and Becky Anderson, who arrived there last summer, as well as other former Reds in Amy Sims, and Louanne Worsey.

Speaking of moving to Wolves, the Forest legend said: “I’m really excited.

“It’s such a good project, and so many good players in this team that I’m really looking forward to playing for the club.

“They’ve been challenging for so long at the top end of the table and, the way they play, I really like the aggressive press and they score lots of goals.

“It’s exciting to play in that format.”

Whilst adding about the decision to depart the Reds: “It was really tough to leave Forest.

“I’ve been there for the majority of my life, so it’s been a different step that I’ve taken but coming into Wolves and feeling so welcome and excited to play here, it makes it that little bit easier.

“I’ll always look back with fondness on my Forest career and I have some very good memories from my time there, but it’s exciting to be here now too.”

Personally, we would like to wish Lyndsey Harkin nothing but the best at Wolverhampton (although it is going to be weird seeing you turning out in the Old Gold); a model professional, experienced, and a great leader, it’s been great to chat with you over the past few years or so.

Thank you Lynno, enjoy yourself, good luck, and maybe catch-up again soon.
