Arnold Open NSL Era With Win
Euro Soccer Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division newcomers, Arnold Town, started life in their new league with a routine, 3-0 home win over West Bridgford Reserves on Saturday, and in doing so joined a handful of clubs with opening day victories.
Woodthorpe Park Rangers took the plaudits for the NSLs top divisions highest score, they easing to a 5-0 win on the road at FA Cavaliers, and, with five differing scorers – Reece Campbell, Malaky Eshelby, Dalton Stephens, Kaylum Taylor and Kieran Wheat – started the campaign top on goal difference.
Arnold slotted themselves nicely into second place following their win as Kurt Hallam, Liam McCormack with a screamer on his debut, and George Harrold, all found the back of the net, with Aslockton & Orston inflicting the same result on their visitors, Southwell City Reserves, Oliver Stevenson’s brace being added to by Jake Robb.

Bingham Town won 4-2 away to Awsworth Villa, Charlie Allcock at the double for the victors, whilst there were also wins for Cotgrave (3-2 at home to Notts Olympic), Wollaton (1-0 at Collingham), and under the Friday Night Lights in the season opener, Keyworth United.
Thomas Siswick netted the first goal of the season to give his side an interval lead against visiting Dunkirk; Declan Knight equalised early in the second before Jack Oldham restored the hosts’ advantage, and Callum Wolloch adding the third.

In Division One, Klaudio Marqeshi kick-started the season for East Leake Robins by firing a four-goal salvo in his sides’ 6-0 home win over Bilborough TRD, Joseph Fairclough and Joshua Wright also netting as they start the season top.
Joining them are Ravenshead and Hucknall Town Reserves, they both winning 3-0, against AFC Sandiacre Town and Radcliffe Olympic respectively, and Meden Vale Colts, who won 3-1 at home to Clifton All Whites Reserves; Oneill Castille was on-hand to bag a brace for Hucknall’s second string in their victory whilst Noah Mallalue, Lewis Bilbie, and Will Abbs netted for Ravenshead in theirs.
The three remaining games saw 2-2 draws between Calverton Miners Welfare and AC United, and PMG Excel and Elston United, and a 1-1 draw in the game between Grantham Town Reserves and Gedling Southbank.
AFC Parabellum meanwhile started their Division Two campaign with a comfortable, 5-0 home win, against visiting Notts Olympic Reserves, Thomas Gray and Dillon Roberts both netting braces alongside one from Jack Payne.
Cotgrave Reserves won 3-1 away to Langwith Whitestar, Beeston Reserves won 2-0 at Southwell City Development, and there was a seven-goal thriller between AJ Sport and Wollaton Reserves, the hosts winning 4-3 thanks mainly to a hat-trick from Lombe Chibende.
Only four games involving Notts-based clubs were played in the Camper UK Central Midlands Alliance Premier on Saturday afternoon, with the Worksop derby seeing four goals, alongside defeats for Linby, Tevie, and the Blid.
The only local side to taste victory was Mansfield Hosiery Mills, who moved up to tenth place in the CMA Premier South, following a 1-0 win away to Linby Colliery Welfare, the only goal of the game coming just before the hour mark off Billy Brooks.
Blidworth Welfare also suffered defeat, going down 2-1 when away to Mickleover RBL, the hosts two goals to the good at the break, Triston Burrell halving the deficit in the second period.
Defeat for Blidworth sees them sitting fourth bottom in the early stages of the campaign whilst inactive Selston sit fifth, having played just once thus far.
In the CMA Premier North, Teversal fell to a 2-0 defeat away to Hatfield Town, who leapfrogged them to move top of the table with both having won two of their opening three games.
Meanwhile, in Worksop, hosts Worksop Town Reserves were held to a 2-2 draw against visiting local rivals, SJR Worksop, the hosts sitting fourth having won one, drawn one, lost one, and the visitors in eleventh.
Inactive, were RHP Sports & Social, who are seventh, and Ollerton Town, who sit ninth, after the opening couple of games.
