Cup Draws For Local Sides

Late September, early October, will see the opening round of this season’s Nottinghamshire FA County Cup competitions burst into life, with games aplenty in both the Senior Cup. and Senior Trophy, whilst other cup competitions have also been drawn.

Hucknall Town, one of nine who’ll receive a bye to the second round in this season’s, won an instant classic at the One Call Stadium in the 2025 final; opposing Newark & Sherwood United the two sides shared twelve goals, in a stunning, 6-6 draw, before winning 4-3 on penalties.

The victory was the Yellows’ seventh in the Senior Cup, their last arriving in 2003, when they beat Teversal 2-0, that was their fourth win six seasons in what was heady times for the club; the Highwaymen meanwhile won their only Senior Cup in 2023, a 3-2 win over Carlton Town, and they also received a bye to the next round.

The seven ties in the NFA Senior Cup First Round, to be played on 20 September, are as follows –

AFC Mansfield vs. Kimberley Miners Welfare; West Bridgford vs. Rainworth Miners Welfare; Newark Town vs. Eastwood CFC; Gedling Miners Welfare vs. Notts County; Carlton Town vs. Clifton All Whites; Stapleford Town vs. Dunkirk; Southwell City vs. Retford

(byes – Basford United, Clipstone, Hucknall Town, Mansfield Town, Newark & Sherwood United, Nottingham Forest, Radford, Retford United, Sherwood Colliery; NB Notts County, Mansfield and Nottingham Forest will be playing their Reserves/U21s sides)

Linby Colliery Welfare meanwhile are the holders of the NFA Senior Trophy, and, as with their counterparts in the county’s flagship competition, receive a bye to the second round this time around.

In last season’s final Linby brushed aside a spirited Blidworth Welfare, 3-0, in the game played at Debdale, capping what was the clubs’ best season for a number of years; now, the competition has some seventy entrants for the 2025-26 version.

Eight ties make up the NFA Senior Trophy First Round (with fifty-four byes), due to be played on 4 October, and are as follows –
