Notts To Play For Bob Willis Trophy

As Nottinghamshire face their first friendly of the revised and much shortened campaign today, in travelling to Edgbaston to face Warwickshire for a three day match, the fixtures have been drawn up for a red ball season which will start on Saturday 1st August.

Notts will play five four day fixtures starting against Derbyshire at Trent Bridge before hosting Yorkshire on Saturday 8th August, then Lancashire and Leicestershire away over the commencing weeks before a home match against Durham on Sunday 6th September in the North Group of the Bob Willis Trophy.

The Competition has been split into three groups, North, South and Central with the two best finishing teams from the three groups meeting in a five day final.

All games at this moment in time will be played behind closed doors but with a white ball T20 edition set for later August it is with some hope fans could potentially get to see Notts play at a stage this season.

Head Coach Peter Moores delighted to be returning to action stated “After such a long, testing and unusual close-season, it’s tremendously exciting to finally be getting out on the field for some competitive action.”

“We’re sad that we won’t be able to welcome our members and supporters in to Trent Bridge to watch us, but we’ll be doing everything we can to represent them on the field and to put on a show for them to enjoy.”

“Having phoned many members during the lockdown period, I know how much the return of cricket will mean to them and how much they would have loved to be in the ground with us. Trent Bridge has a real family feel and we will miss them cheering us on.”

“I’ve been impressed with how the lads have progressed over the winter, and some terrific work has been done since returning to training during the past few weeks as well.”

“On behalf of all the players and coaching staff, I can promise that we are ready to give it our all and play with a smile on our faces, in appreciation of the opportunity to play for a great club.”
