Jimmy Is A Magpie

Notts County have signed Mansfield Town youngster Jimmy Knowles on a season long loan as Manager Neal Ardley strengthens his forward line depth ahead of the campaign.

Knowles has shown promise at the Stags in pre-season and joins the Notts attack to provide competition to the likes of Wes Thomas, Kyle Wootton and Elisha Sam.

Having made nine league two appearances and scoring two goals it is hoped that Knowles will get valuable experience at Notts County.

Stags Manager Graham Coughlan stated upon the move for Knowles “I think going to a club like that, we can obviously keep a close eye on him, and it’s a great loan move for him.”

When asked what to expect Knowles said of his own game “I’ve got a lot of energy – I’ll press defences and force them into mistakes. I like to run in behind but I don’t mind receiving the ball to feet and playing one-twos with the midfield and strikers.”

His new Manager Neal Ardley, happy with his capture said “When we brought in Elisha, we looked at what we wanted from our fourth striker and knew we were looking for a younger one, be it a signing or a loan, who had a freshness and energy.”

“Jimmy’s quick, athletic and runs really hard. He’s 18 so there are things he needs to work on but he’ll complement Kyle, Elisha and Wes.”

The club have also today signed Adam Chicksen who was most recently at Bolton Wanderers. The 28-year-old left back has also played for the likes of Milton Keynes Dons, Charlton Athletic and Bradford City and has over 200 football league appearances.
