Carter Pens New Deal

Nottinghamshire spinner Matthew Carter has signed a new two-year contract with the club in a deal that will take him to 2022.

The 23 year old Lincoln born bowler has burst on to the scene since debuting with the red ball in 2015 with impressive figures including a best ever 7/56 first innings dismantle of Somerset in his first season where he took 10/195 during the match.

The tall elegant off cutter Carter has also been a hit with the white ball taking 14 wickets at 19.78 in the Vitality Blast this summer earning him a lucrative move to Trent Rockets and the hundred franchise also based at Trent Bridge.

Carter who said “There’s no better place for me to develop my game than at Trent Bridge with Notts,” also stated “White ball cricket went really well for me this year, which is something I obviously want to continue, and I want to be more involved in the red-ball team too.”

“With promotion to aim for in the Championship – and also for our white-ball side to achieve what it’s capable of by winning a trophy – there’s loads for us to achieve here in 2020 and beyond.”

His Coach Peter Moores was full of praise for Carter stating “Matt is proving himself to be a really exciting player,”

“He’s not fazed by bowling at the best players at the most difficult times and he rose to the challenge this summer of being one of our key powerplay bowlers.”

“He’s one of a number of young cricketers we have here with really exciting potential. The key for us now is to grow together as a team and build something successful.”

“Matt can be a key part of that with both the red and white ball and that’s what we’re all aiming for over the next couple of years.”

In another boost for the club Kevin Shine has joined as Assistant Coach ending a 14 year stint as the ECB’s lead fast bowling coach.

Shine 50, who enjoyed spells in County Cricket as Head Coach and Academy Director at Somerset was part of the World Cup winning England team this summer and as well as being part of the nations World T20 triumph in 2010 he was also part of four Ashes winning teams in his time with England.
