Nottingham Forest Women have made four new signings over the last few days as Manager Andy Cook looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.
Defender Hayley James has signed from Leicester City along with Scottish Under 19 international Rachel Brown whilst Annabel McKechnie and Charlotte Steggles have both moved up from the Forest reserve side after impressing the first team coaching staff over the last season.
Steggles can play in defence or midfield and along with McKechnie was part of the Forest team that reached the FA Womens National Reserve Cup Final last season in which they were beaten by Crystal Palace. The 22 year old also helped herself to a number of goals including a hat-trick against West Bromwich Albion Reserves and a brace against Coventry City Reserves amongst others.
On stepping up to first team duty Steggles stated “We had a great year reaching two cup finals and pushing for the league title.”
“I’m delighted to now be pushing for a place in the first team, we’ve signed some great players and we can’t wait to get started in the league.”
Ex-Leicester City players Rachel Brown and Hayley James are also excited to get started with the Reds having already been involved in training with Brown stating “I’m already so excited about being a part of this team.”
“There is a real sense of togetherness so hopefully we can use that to push on and win the league this season.”
Forest who started their pre-season campaign against Long Eaton United on Sunday next face a trip to Oxford United Ladies at the weekend before a home match with Wolves (at the Eastwood Community Stadium) on Thursday September 3rd.
