Forest Sign French Midfielder

Nottingham Forest have signed French midfielder Fouad Bachirou from Swedish side Malmo as Sabri Lamouchi brings in his fourth major signing of the summer.

The 30-year-old Valance born Comoros International started his playing career at Paris Saint-Germain in 2006 before moving to Greenock Morton where he made over 100 appearances in his four years in Scotland.

After signing for Ostursunds in Sweden in 2014 Bachirou helped his side Managed by Graham Potter to the Swedish Cup and an extensive Europa League run before joining Malmo in 2018 who he made 99 appearances for.

A hard working defensive midfielder, Fouad could most likely be used as a back up to Samba Sow as the Forest coaching staff aim for strength in depth across all areas of the pitch, particularly in the middle of the park.

Bachirou who has 19 caps for Comoros will start training with the club immediately having left Malmo top of the Allsvenskan table 17 games into the campaign having been involved as recently as Sunday when his former side beat Falkenbergs 2-1 to stretch their lead at the top to seven points.

The signing of yet another experienced player is in addition to that of Jack Colback, Tyler Blackett and Lyle Taylor who have all signed on frees in moves that will bolster the Forest quality in depth.

The Reds will face West Bromwich Albion in a behind closed door friendly at St Georges Park this weekend with all the clubs new signings in contention to play.
