Carlton Legend Brian Passes

Tributes have poured in for Carlton Town’s Commercial Manager Brian Dennett who after contracting coronavirus some weeks ago, sadly passed away overnight after taking a turn for the worse whilst in hospital.

Dennett was Mr Carlton, a gentleman who always had time for people, he was a long-term ambassador for the club, a great friend to many and someone who was liked by all those that knew him.

The condition of Brian was one that highlights the predicament that Non-League football has been in, whilst the clubs themselves have wanted to get back on the pitch for the mental health of their young players, to save the lives of others, especially those of an elderly generation, like those that work for the clubs in other capacities, the game has rightly been cast aside for more important matters than points and trophies, this sadly couldn’t help the survival of Dennett, who will be devastatingly missed in the club house of the Bill Stokeld Stadium when football finally returns.

Mick Garton, the clubs long serving Chairman who has worked with Dennett under the roles of Press Officer and Commercial Manager, stated “He was a brilliant Commercial Manager who raised thousands for this football club, but more than anything a close friend and he will leave a big hole in so many ways.”

Millers club captain Martin Ball fittingly saying “Brian was a real Nottingham non-league man, and one of the genuine good guys in football. He epitomised everything that is Carlton Town”
