Ten games remain of Notts County’s return to the football league and it’s been a rollercoaster ride to say the least, there’s been ups, but most recently, there’s been downs.
The club are starting to look over their shoulder as they wonder if they even have enough points to stay in the division, luckily a 15 point gap on second bottom Colchester surely cannot be breached. A slight ease of pain following five successive defeats.
It questions the gamble of the Reedtz brothers selection of part time Wealdstone Manager Stuart Maynard who now in a full time football job, looks out of his depth, if only results are anything to go by.
The latest a 2-1 defeat at Crawley following an early lead taken by Notts gave optimism. Sam Austin with the opener, but Sam Slocombe in the Magpies goal was kept busy, before Scott Robertson was sent off, and late on the home side scored not one, but two goals to turn the tie on it’s head.
Klaidi Lolos levelled on 79 before Ade Adeyamo inflicted more damage on the ten men.
The future is looking rather bleak as Notts stumble over the finish line, a first season back in League One after promotion under Luke Williams started so well with further playoff ambition, since he’s left however for Swansea, the side have free-fallen down the division, and Notts currently languish in the ugly depths of seventeenth.
Next up is Accrington Stanley. Who are they you may ask? A side going just as bad in the form stakes but in fifteenth are two points above the Magpies. Notts travel to the Wham on Saturday before another tricky away day in Bradford next Tuesday. Three points needed and quickly, to ease any more mounting pressure on their Manager.
