Notts Beaten In One Day Cup
Nottinghamshire were beaten by Derbyshire in a shortened Royal London Cup match at the Incora County Ground yesterday as the Outlaws stay third in Group B after five games played.
With England playing India at Trent Bridge, the match was ‘officially’ marked as Notts home game but it was the Derbyshire groundstaff who had it all to do as damp patches around the wicket following overnight rain caused a delay to the days proceedings.
After agreeing to shorten the match to 27 overs a side, the hosts made 258/6 after Notts put them in to bat, thanks largely to a Tom Wood Century, the no3 eventually out for 109 off the bowling of Luke Fletcher.
Impressively Liam Patterson-White took 3/41 for Notts whilst Harry Came reached 57 with the bat.
In return Notts fell to the early wicket of Sol Budinger before Peter Trego and Matthew Montgomery shown some resurgence racing the score on past fifty. Two quick wickets however brought Derbyshire back into play as favourites with the score at 60/3 and Notts never really recovered, Slater making 24 whilst James was stumped on nine.
Patterson-White (27) and Schadendorf (29) made respectable starts whilst Ben Hutton reached 46 but Notts finished 217 all out by the time the last ball was bowled and a way off the impressive Derbyshire total who in the end won by 41 runs.
Next up for Notts is a trip to Yorkshire on Friday before facing Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens in Wales on Sunday.
