NSL Round Up: Webb Debuts For Cranmers
There was certainly plenty of goals witnessed this past Saturday in the Euro Soccer Nottinghamshire Senior League, nearly fifty being scored in the eight, Premier Division games alone.
Cotgrave, sitting in fourth place, helped themselves to nine of them when on the road at lowly Beeston, a 9-1 win boosting their goal-difference at this early stage.
Patrick Ferguson would score three for Cotgrave in the win, he being joined by Jamie Kirby and Ben Upton braces, along with further strikes from Lee Potts and Luke Zacharowksi; victory keeping them on the coat-tails of the early pace-setters, and with a game in hand.
Of those pace-setters, Collingham was also involved in a game where nine goals were scored, they edging hosts Woodthorpe Park Rangers 5-4 to move joint-top with Borrowash Victoria, FCV Grace Dieu sitting between Collingham and Cotgrave, in third place.
Kamar Davis and Garvie Cameron both bagged braces for their respective sides in an entertaining encounter, Callum Cocks and Dalton Stephens adding to Rangers’ tally, George Asplin and Lewis Waller replying for the visitors.
Road wins were also picked up Awsworth Villa, edging a seven-goal game at Keyworth United, 4-3, Joshua Broad scoring twice for the Villa, and for Aslockton & Orston, who won 5-1 at Southwell City Reserves, Tyrell Johnson on the mark twice. The Cranmers having a celebrity face in attendance as former Nottingham Forest and England midfielder Neil Webb watched on to see his son Neo make his Aslockton & Orston debut.
Radcliffe Olympic also netted five, seeing off visitors Ruddington Village 5-0, and with five different scorers, and West Bridgford Reserves won 4-2 at home to Dunkirk, Ernest Osaretin with two for the hosts, and John Fitch replying with two of his own.
Other Premier Division results saw FC Sez win 1-0 at home to Wollaton, and FCV Grace Dieu see off their visitors, Borrowash Victoria, 2-1, in a top-of-the table clash.
AFC Colsterworth Sports & Social Club maintained their hundred percent start to the season in Division One, winning 3-0 away to Hucknall Town Reserves, goals coming from Haniel Marasco, Luke Peberdy, and Alfie Sheen.
Also in Division One, and following back-to-back defeats, Bingham Town shot up to third place, on goal-difference, following their emphatic, 10-2 win, at home to Bilborough TRD.
Freddie Kennedy helped himself to four of the ten goals, whilst there was also a hat-trick for Adam Daybell; Joseph Hornigold, James Maberley, and substitute Stan Lister also chipping in, doubling their tally of goals scored in the opening three combined.
Notts Olympic have moved top of Division Two following a high-scoring win for the third successive match; having defeated Southwell St Mary’s 5-0 and Reindeer FC 8-3 in their last two outings, Olympic romped to a 7-1 home win over FC Pelican, although sides beneath have games in hand.
Olympic saw braces netted by Matt Gordon, Jeremiah Ogden, and Ebrahim Sawo in the win, Callum Buck also netting as they sit a point ahead of a Gedling Southbank side who also netted seven, winning 7-0 at home to Reindeer, Stephen King and Athony Clarke both netting twice apiece.
FC Cavaliers Reserves sit third following a narrow, 3-2 win away to Greyfriars, and Elston United lead a chasing pack of sides on six points, they having only played twice thus far.
As for Division Three, just a point splits the top five sides of Ravenshead Reds and Phoenix Athletic (ten points), and the trio of AFC Parabellum, Langwith Whitestar, and Collingham Reserves (nine apiece).
Ravenshead edged their hosts, Rushcliffe Reserves, 1-0, courtesy of a goal from Callum Cossey; Phoenix edged an eleven-goal thriller, 6-5, at home to Trent Vineyard as both Kaiden Burke-Campbell and James Beaven, netted hat-tricks for their respective sides; Parabellum took care of visitors Nottingham Greens 5-1 as Dillon Roberts notched twice; and Collingham’s second string defeated visiting Whitestar by the odd-goal-in-five.
