After relegation last season, Ollerton Town’s start to life in the Central Midlands Alliance Premier North has been an interesting, high-scoring one, to say the least.
Sitting joint-fourth (fifth) in the table, after nine games played, eleven points off early pace-setters Dinnington Town JFC, and with 42 goals in their games thus far – supporters are certainly in for a treat.
Saturday gone was no different either, when away to lowly Glapwell; leading 4-0 at the break Town nearly blew it when conceding three, second half goals, edging what was very much, a game of two halves.
Goals from Harvey Limb, Alex Wilkinson, Harry Topliss and Robert Singer, certainly had Town cruising at the interval – Wilkinson and Topliss with their respective, sixth goals of the season thus far.
However, upon the restart, the hosts hit back quickly, Oscar Bannister and Oliver Parfitt both netting within minutes of the restart; Lewis Imrie then notched a third for the hosts to make for a nervy, final thirty which Town somehow clung onto for a 4-3 win, their fifth success of the season so far.
Elsewhere in the Premier North, SJR Worksop were beaten 2-0 away to Harworth Colliery, and Worksop Town Reserves, sitting third bottom, were held toa 3-3 draw with visiting AFC Bentley, goals for the hosts coming from Oscar Clarke, Max Eastwood, and substitute Tyrese Bailey-Green.
Limby Colliery Welfare continue to lead the way in the Premier South, three clear of second-placed pairing of South Normanton Athletic and Melbourne Dynamo, both of whom have something in-hand.
The leaders, they snatched a 2-1 win on the road at mid-table Holbrook St-Michaels, Ashdon Bernard giving them the points with a 25-yarder as the game headed towards the final ten minutes, victory being their eighth in nine outings.
Mansfield Hosiery Mills sit seventh, fourteen points off the early leaders after they were held to a 2-2 draw away to Holwell Sports, goals coming from Ryan Boler and Ryan Butler, whilst there was defeat for both Arnold Town (5-2 at home to Cromford & Wirksworth) and bottom club Teversal (1-0 off hosts Wirksworth Ivanhoe).
Of the plethora of sides across the regionalised, Division One’s, there was plenty of action throughout the county in the East as five of the top six clubs are Notts-based.
Leaders Mansfield HM Blue edged their visitors RHP Sports & Social 3-2 as Robbie Savage (2) and Cameron Pinnick netted for the hosts; third-placed Ashland Rovers romped to a 5-1 home win over fifth-placed Lord Bennington as Callum Jones scored twice; and Kirton Brickworks also netted five as they saw off Eastwood & Kimberley 5-2, Jacob March at the double for the victors.
Of the other Notts clubs in the division Southwell Development were beaten 3-2 away to Shirebrook Soldiers, for whom Ben Charlesworth notched another brace, Harry Brown and Taylor Shaw replying, and Blidworth Welfare Reserves are ninth after they won 4-1 away to Linby CW Reserves, Alex Paterson netting for the hosts whilst a brace from Triston Burrell and one apiece for Ashley Solomon and substitute Leighton Platts, gave the visitors all three points.
