Nottingham Hoping To Return To Winning Ways

Nottingham Rugby are in action tonight as they take on bottom of the table Yorkshire Carnegie at Headingley Stadium in Leeds.

Neil Fowkes side have slipped into the bottom three themselves in the RFU Championship having suffered four straight league defeats since last beating Carnegie by fifty points to nil in the Championship Cup.

The Green and Whites will be hoping to get back to winning ways against a side that has lost all 10 of their league games this season and with a spirited performance against leaders Newcastle Falcons last week Fowkes is confident his side can turn things around although he won’t be taking the opposition lightly stating “We’ve seen their performances against Newcastle where they held them for long periods. They’ve brought in Phil Davies who’s their new Director of Rugby. He was at the world cup at a coach.”

“Yorkshire have scored 46 points in their past four games, compared to 33 in the previous four so improvements are there to see.”

“They’ve looked hard at their fundamentals and you can see those signs improving. If we give them time to control the game and let them in to our territory, they will cause us some problems. We’ve got to make sure we execute everything we need to and convert everything that comes our way.”

Kick off is 7:45pm with the Nottingham team as follows.

Starting Team: Sean Scanlon, David Williams, Harry Strong, Luke Peters, Jack Spittle, Will Mellett, Alex Dolly, Tom Hill, Luke Cole, Oisin Heffernan, Ollie Chessum, Danny Qualter, Seb Cecil, George Cox, Josh Poullet.

Replacements: Ben Brownlie, Jamie Jack, Aniseko Sio, Llewelyn Jones, Will Owen, Murray McConnell, Will Simmonds, Ben Foley.
