NSL Midweek Round Up – Arnold Fall
The Euro Soccer Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division played their first round of midweek matches this past week, with Cotgrave picking up pretty much where they left off last season, and Keyworth United also among the goals early doors.
Those joint-leaders both registered home wins as Cotgrave saw off visiting FC Cavaliers 6-0, Ben Upton firing a hat-trick, and Keyworth won 3-0 against visiting Bingham Town thanks to a brace from Kayne Crofts, on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
Southwell City Reserves, sitting fourth, picked up an enjoyable, 5-0 win, when home to Woodthorpe Park Rangers on Tuesday, the same Woodthorpe who won by that very score in their season opener just days earlier.
Five different scorers gave City’s second-string victory, goals coming from Rheo Crew, Jake Fitch, John Fitch, Freddie Rayns, and substitute Sam Philpotts; whilst there were 2-1 wins on the road for both Collingham, at Aslockton & Orston, and for Ruddington Village, at Notts Olympic.
Both Arnold Town sides feel to defeat as their first were beaten 2-1 off visiting Beeston, and their reserves fell to a 2-0 defeat (in Division Two) off Parabellum; Liam McCormack netted for Town’s first against visiting Beeston who scored midway through the first via Nicholas Knight, and Perry McGrath midway through the second.
The remaining Premier Division game ended in a draw as Awsworth Villa drew 1-1 with visiting Wollaton with Cameron Thurgood netting for the hosts, and Liam Bates for the visitors, who sit nicely in third place.
In Division One Calverton Miners Welfare followed up their opening day draw, with a 3-0 win away to Gedling Southbank on Tuesday night, Callum Baker bagged a brace and one for Jacub Tabreham.
Meanwhile, in Division Two, Dillon Roberts and Mackenzie O’Shea netted the goals that have Parabellum top, following their 2-0 win away to Arnold Reserves, whilst the game between Newark & Sherwood United Reserves and Collingham Reserves finished in a battling, 1-1 draw.
