Arnold Hit Olympic For Five
Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division outfit, Arnold Town, seem to be going for a high-scoring campaign, at both ends of the field, if the first four games are anything to go by.
Wednesday night’s 5-1 home win over Notts Olympic, doubled their tally from their first three matches, and ensured that, thus far, games involving the Eagles, have witnessed nineteen goals, and counting.
Level at the break, Lloyd Patterson having opened the scoring for the visitors before Jordan Ingram levelled with his first of the evening, the hosts increased the pressure after the restart, netting four more, unanswered goals.
Benji Agu made it 2-1, before a penalty from Ingram effectively saw the hosts out of sight, James Wade would go on to add a fourth, with Jake Ogden the fifth to complete the rout, and a win which moved them within touching distance of second place.
Elsewhere in the newly-named, Nottinghamshire Football League, Beeston are four-from-four, and have a slender advantage at the top, following their 3-2 win at home to Stapleford Town Reserves, a game which saw five different scorers, including Dior Anderson’s fourth goal in his last three outings for the victors.
Awsworth Villa meanwhile moved above Woodthorpe Park Rangers in joint-second after they won 3-1 at home to Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves, and the Rangers were soundly beaten 4-0 at home to West Bridgford Colts Reserves, Michael Glover with a hat-trick.
Other results saw Rainworth Miners Welfare and AC United share the spoils in a 2-2 draw, whilst Newark & Sherwood United earned a point in a 1-1 draw at Southwell City Reserves.
Further up the pyramid, in the National League North, Worksop Town were narrowly beaten 1-0 away to a Hebburn Town side who’ve now gone unbeaten at home for a whole year, this being their seventeenth win (and five draws) in twenty-two outings.
The same score was registered in the games involving both Carlton Town, and Basford United, the former winning 1-0 at home to Coleshill Town, Jason Law netting shortly after the restart, whilst the latter were beaten 1-0 win facing visitors Shepshed Dynamo.
A handful of games were also played in the Central Midlands Alliance, Ollerton Town, in the Premier North, the only victors, they picking up a 2-1 win at home to Glapwell, Bradley Wells and Heath Stothers netting.
Both Worksop sides were beaten in their respective, Premier North outings, SJR losing 2-1 away to Dinnington Town, and Worksop Town Reserves on the wrong end a 5-0 drubbing at home to Harworth Colliery.
Meanwhile, in the CMA Premier South, Linby Colliery Welfare were beaten 3-1 at home to Gresley Rovers Reserves, Josh Wass with the hosts’ consolation effort.
