Hearn Leaves Basford

Basford United have announced that Liam Hearn has left the club.

The 34-year-old former Mansfield Town and Grimsby forward has featured 12 times for the club this season and has scored five times. After announcing that he would be taking a step back from playing, he then went on loan to Tamworth and played three times scoring one goal.

A club statement read: “The 34-year old has agreed a deal to leave the club that allows him the opportunity to play elsewhere for the remained of the current season and beyond.

“He will be remembered by Basford fans for his contribution during the 2017-18 season when he was named the NPL Southern League player of the season and South Division top goal scorer.

“However, he has struggled for game time in the last two seasons due to various reasons which has led to the decision for him to pursue other opportunities.

“Everyone at the club would like to thank him for his services and wishes him all the best in the future.”
