Stags Sign Defender

Mansfield Town have signed defender Farrend Rawson from Forest Green Rovers on a two year contract after being recently released by the Green Devils this summer.

Nottingham born Rawson is 6ft4in and aged just 24, the tall centre back started with Derby County as a youngster and after loan spells at Rotherham, Coventry and Accrington joined Gloucestershire based Forest Green in 2018 playing over 80 games for the club in 18 months.

With almost 100 League Two games under his belt he has vital experience at the Stags level with Manager Graham Coughlan stating “This is another terrific addition to our squad.”

Coughlan said “For someone so young, Faz has amassed a lot of experience and game time and with the right coaching he can definitely push himself to the next level.”

“He is honest, hard-working and a real commanding figure in both boxes.”

Rawson joins the new look Stags who have already captured the likes of Jordan Bowery, Ollie Clarke, Jamie Reid and Marek Stech in recent weeks as they aim for promotion under the ambitious Coughlan after a 2019/20 season prior to lockdown that was largely unsatisfactory for the aspirations of owners John and Caroline Radford.

Should these signings gel under their highly rated Manager, no doubt the Stags will be much better equipped for a promotion push this time around.
