In other news Stags owners John & Carolyn Radford have issued a full statement willing people to get ready for the seasons start on 12th September and to consider purchasing season tickets despite not knowing when fans will be allowed back in football stadiums.
The statement entails “Following the welcome news from the EFL of the new season’s start on 12 September, many of you will be wondering when you are allowed back inside football stadia to support your beloved club. The simple answer is that we do not yet know at this present time. We are receiving regular communication from the EFL, who we appreciate are also entering unchartered waters. As soon as there is news on this front, we will communicate it with you via our official media channels.”
“In a climate still of some uncertainty, the longer we advance without supporters inside One Call Stadium, the greater the challenges.”
“Since our last home match, 165 days have passed without significant income to our football club.”
“Whilst we have, and always will, endeavour to support the club financially to the best of our capacity, no club owner is a bottomless pit of everlasting funds.”
“During this period, our contracted players have received 100% of their wages, and essential bills and other outgoings have also been paid. We have also made seven exciting new signings as we look to build a capable squad for the new season, and to ensure that we are as competitive as possible for the new campaign.”
“The financial impact on football clubs as a result of the pandemic has received much publicity and we have known for some time that it would be significant. Wherever possible, we have taken steps to mitigate this impact.”
“Consequently, to ensure that the club not only survives, but prospers, both in the short and long term, we are releasing season tickets on Monday 03 August for the 2020-21 season.”
The club furthers “Should matches be played behind closed doors, season ticket holders for the 2020-21 season will receive a complimentary voucher code to watch home first team matches on iFollow Stags – the club’s online digital channel – until One Call Stadium can open its doors to supporters.”
