Three Points & Three Goals For Notts
Notts County 3-1 Altrincham (National League) 07.10.20
A first win of the season for Notts County ensured the Magpies were back to doing what they do best under Neal Ardley after two goals for Kyle Wooton and a screamer from Jake Reeves helped the black and white stripes to a well earned win.
Notts were in the lead within fifteen minutes as Kyle Wootton opened his account for the season before Wes Thomas provided the ammunition for Wootton to grab his second with a perfect cross that was well headed by last seasons top goalscorer.
Wootton might have made it three from the penalty spot but had his spot kick saved with the Magpies well on top going into the half time break.
Another hat-trick opportunity moments after the interval went begging for Wootton as goalkeeper Thompson denied him again before Cal Roberts hit the outside of the post with a curling left footed drive.
Those chances mattered little though as new signing Jake Reeves opened his Magpies account with a curling shot from outside the box that gave the goalkeeper no chance. Notts three up with twenty-six minutes remaining.
Altrincham responded through Mooney on 77 minutes but it was little more than a consolation as the Magpies convincing in their first home game of the season and beneath the cameras of BT took home a much needed three points to kick start their campaign.
County: Slocombe, Brindley, Lacey, Rawlinson, Kelly-Evans, Doyle, O’Brien, Reeves, Roberts (Boldewijn 72), Thomas (Rodrigues 85), Wootton (Sam 72).
