Deadline Day Deal For Notts
Notts County have signed left back Jordan Barnett until the end of the season after the 21-year-old West Yorkshireman’s contract expired with Oldham Athletic.
The former Burnley and Barnsley youngster played 18 League Two matches for the latics since signing in 2020, his most recent in a 3-2 defeat against Mansfield Town last month.
Barnett said on signing “I really want to do well here and get this club back into the EFL.”
“I’ve got quite a lot of pace and power, I’m a fit lad as well who likes to go up and down. I’m a good set piece taker, too, and get quite a lot of assists.”Â
Whilst Manager Neal Ardley stated “He’s a very aggressive player – very dynamic. He likes to get tight and he works very, very hard.”
“What impressed me was that he gets forward with pace, defends with pace and he likes to put his foot in. We were delighted when we heard we could get him.”
“He’s a young lad – we want to coach him and try and make him better. He’ll give us a real competitive edge in his position and if he does really well, who knows what can happen when his current contract finishes at the end of the season?”
The player is likely to be available for selection although will probably miss the game with Bromley tonight at Meadow Lane (7:45pm) as Notts look to extend their recent unbeaten run in the National League to four games ahead of their FA Trophy tie on Saturday which has now been switched to a 1pm kick off.
Both matches will be available to stream through the Notts County website here.
