Reds Easily Beaten By Huddersfield
Nottingham Forest 0-2 Huddersfield Town (EFL Championship) 17.04.21
It wasn’t to be as the Reds were soundly beaten after a disappointing performance that saw Huddersfield Town deservedly take all the points.
Forest actually started well at a sun-drenched City Ground with some neat possession early-doors but the away side soon came into the game during an opening half of little chances created prior to the thirty minute mark, Sarr flicking wide a corner on 31 minutes the first real effort for the Terriers as Rowe then forced Samba into a save at his near post just a few minutes later.
Five minutes before the break, the Reds keeper was again forced into a save as he got down low to keep out Holmes effort from distance, but the Frenchman could do nothing as a loose pass allowed Rowe to race in on goal and give the away side a deserved lead at the break.
On 50 minutes, Juninho Bacuna hit a right footed shot from outside the box just over, and as Ryan Yates headed an Alex Mighten cross on target well saved on 59 to miss an opportunity to level things up, two minutes later it was 2-0 to Huddersfield as Bacuna this time found the target after good work from substitute Danny Ward.
It could have been worse on 68 when former Derby defender Richard Keogh shot right footed wide of the mark and a minute later it was Ward’s turn to fluff his lines with another chance missed for the West-Yorkshiremen.
A late rally included chances for McKenna who’s header from a corner on 73 was kept out by Schofield before substitute Glenn Murray shot wide after turning on the edge of the box.
Too little too late for Forest however who lose their first match in five, the Reds still ten points above the drop zone although Rotherham United in 22nd have three games in hand.
