County Back In Playoffs After Win
Barnet 1-4 Notts County (National League) 08.05.21
Notts County are back in the National League playoff zone after a convincing 4-1 win at Barnet takes Ian Burchnall’s Magpies to seventh in the table with a game in hand on those around them.
Buoyant from a win in midweek over promotion pushing Sutton United, Notts were dominant from the off against relegation bound Barnet but failed to register anything clear cut in the early stages despite playing with confidence and pegging the home side back inside their half for long periods.
In fact it was Barnet and Mason-Clark who went closest during a decent spell for the hosts before that man again, centre half Mark Ellis up for a corner, turned home on the stroke of half time his fifth Notts goal since signing from Tranmere Rovers on loan.
One nil at the break and one minute into the second it was 2-0 when Ruben Rodrigues, yes him again, who netted his fourth in three matches after good work by Calvin Miller who pulled back.
Two became three on 54 as Barnet crumbled, an own goal as Miller crossed turned into his own net by Ben Richards-Everton.
Notts made changes before Wootton forced the best out of Parkes in the Bees goal, Wootton then replaced by Enzio Boldewijn who himself got on the scoresheet on 85, cutting in to fire home in typical style.
Barnet did pull one back, through substitute Petrasso a minute before full time, but that goal didn’t harm Notts day too much, an emphatic win and two in a row with five left to play.
Barnet: Parkes, Nugent, McQueen, Mason-Clark, Kefalas (McBurnie 80), Adeloye, Vaughan, Taylor, Skeffington, Preston (Petrasso 57), Richards-Everton.
Notts County: Slocombe, Brindley, Chicksen, Ellis, Rawlinson, Reeves, Rodrigues (O’Brien 80), Doyle (Griffiths 67), Miller, Sam, Wootton (Boldewijn 74).
Venue: The Hive
