The draw for the first round of the FA Cup was made last night and Notts County have been awarded an away tie against either Woking or Ebbsfleet both of the National League who replay tonight after drawing at the weekend in the Fourth Qualifying Round.
For the Magpies it poses a tricky tie after seeing off Belper Town at Meadow Lane themselves having played Ebbsfleet already in August and drawing 2-2 in Kent. The bottom of the table team might offer slightly easier opposition than Woking based in Surrey who are currently on the same points as Notts sitting in seventh place and also host them in the league next Tuesday night.
Mansfield Town enter the competition at this stage for the seventh successive season and have a home tie against Chorley to look forward to. The Stags will be favourites against the National League strugglers with both ties to be played on the weekend commencing Saturday 9th November.
Elsewhere locally and in perhaps the tie of the round Lincoln City will visit league one leaders Ipswich Town having beat them three seasons ago when three leagues apart in their famous run to the Quarter Finals with both sides now in the same division.
Nottingham Forest will enter the competition at the third round stage in the new year.
