Nottingham Panthers 3-4 Manchester Storm (Challenge Cup Group C) 23.10.19
Nottingham Panthers suffered overtime defeat in the Challenge Cup last night leaving them at the foot of the Group C table with a mountain to climb to reach the latter stages of a competition they have won on 8 occasions.
Panthers lead through Jon Rheault after just 54 seconds of the first period but Manchester were back level when Adam Hughesman slid the puck past Nottingham Netminder Kevin Carr.
In the second period it was Storm’s turn to take the lead through Mario Puskarich before Jake Hanson levelled things up and it was Hanson who provided the finish to give Panthers the lead in the Third Quarter before Kyle Hope got a late equalizer sending the match in to overtime.
Jared Aulin was the game winner for Storm who took the two points leaving Panthers with just one win from their last ten league and cup games played.
Head Coach Tim Wallace told Panthers TV the performance was “not smart” and that his team need to “see what they are doing wrong, and it’s time for them to learn” ahead of Saturday’s Elite League home match up against Fife.
