After Saturday’s downpour left many matches across the country postponed, two of our counties teams are in action this midweek in their re-scheduled FA Trophy First Qualifying Round ties as tomorrow evening Carlton Town host Matlock Town but first tonight, Worksop travel North to Whitby.
With £2,450 up for grabs for the winners should eighth tier Worksop see off Whitby Town of the division above they will face Peterborough Sports or Alvechurch in an away tie on Saturday 9th November.
Worksop have been competitive in their first season in the NPL South East Division after promotion from the Northern Counties East League winning the majority of their games away from home they’ll be looking to upset Whitby who after an eight game winning run at the start of the season have only won one of their last six league and cup matches.
Tonight’s game by the seaside is at 7:45pm with tickets from £10, £6 and £3 for those travelling to Yorkshire.
Should Carlton Town continue their fine start to the season under Manager Tommy Brookbanks and beat Matlock Town who are currently lying in sixth place of the division above, the Millers will then face another tough looking tie at home to Ashton United.
But Carlton who are top of the NPL South East Division will be full of confidence of causing a local upset and reaching the Second Qualifying Round for the second successive season which will be a welcome cash incentivising distraction to their promotion push.
The match at the Bill Stokeld Stadium, Stoke Lane tomorrow kicks off at 7:45pm with entry from £9/£7/£3.
