Notts Fightback For Point

Notts County 2-2 Hartlepool United (National League) 02.11.19

Notts County came from two goals down against Hartlepool United at the weekend to share a 2-2 draw in their Vanarama National League match at Meadow Lane.

The Magpies got off to the worst possible start when Holohon struck a deflected shot into the bottom left hand corner of Slocombe’s goal after just 8 minutes.

The away side were much the better team in the first half and doubled their advantage on 42 when Luke James danced through to coolly slot home sending the noisy visiting support into ecstasy.

That joy was short lived however as Notts pulled one back through Wes Thomas on the stroke of half time as he chased a ball over the top to prod over the line.

In the second half Notts were much the better of the two sides and came at Hartlepool finally getting their reward on the hour when substitute Booty crossed for Thomas to head home brilliantly to level things up.

Notts pushed for a winner and might of had a penalty late on before Wootton headed wide in injury time. In the end Manager Neal Ardley was satisfied with the point after coming from two goals behind suggesting “The boys showed real character and we saw a side to this team that we’ve not for a while”

“We gave everything and came on strong – I thought we could have gone on to win it.”

Notts who move into the playoff places with that point next face Ebbsfleet in the first round proper of the FA Cup this Saturday.
