Hard Earned Point For Reds
Bristol City 0-0 Nottingham Forest (EFL Championship) 23.11.19
A well-earned point for Nottingham Forest at a tough place to get a result was the verdict after the Reds in the end settled for a nil nil draw with Bristol City especially having played the last thirty minutes of the game with ten men.
Midfielder Ryan Yates was sent off for a lunging foul on Adam Nagy on 56 minutes and the Reds (in blue) had to dig deep to ensure they took something from the game against a side level on points with Forest in the league.
Forest started well with good possession and went close through Tiago Silva after just eight minutes when his shot from the edge of the area was deflected behind for a corner. The resulting set play was knocked back in by Ryan Yates whose low shot was cleared off the line by a City defender.
Lolley stung the hands of Bentley on 15 minutes before Weimann went close for City drilling wide and Lolley again shot over on the half hour thanks to a deflection.
In the second half Tiago Silva shown quick feet before his shot was saved well by Dan Bentley but a couple of chances for the home side came when first Diedhiou headed wide from Pereira’s centre and Weimann’s half shot and cross was turned onto his own post by Yates.
That let off for Yates was the moment before his luck when out as he jumped I two footed on Hungarian International Nagy giving Referee Craig Pawson no option but to send the Forest Midfielder off.
That decision seemed to change Sabri Lamouchi’s decision for him on whether to stick or twist as he immediately brought on a former Robin in Albert Adomah for Sammy Ameobi and Forest began to defend in numbers but might have took a surprise lead when Grabban put wide on 73 minutes.
Weimann again went close blazing wide before being substituted on 76 and in the dying moments a great opportunity went gaping for Bristol City to take all three points when Rodri skied over from a corner headed back into his path.
A good result in the end for Forest especially in dealing with the disadvantage of being a man down, the Reds would probably have taken a point before the game and were certainly happy to do so after losing Yates with the Reds remaining in fifth place in the Championship on 29 points from 16 played.
After the game Manager Sabri Lamouchi said “I think it was a good point, we deserved it and I like the spirit, especially with one player less.
“In the first half, we didn’t create a lot but we could have scored through Ryan and Diedhiou made a great save on the line.”
“In the second half, with one player less, it was very difficult but the attitude and the spirit of the players, those who came in like Albert, Rafa Mir and Joao, they worked a lot for the team and for me that is really important. It was positive and it was a great point.”
