Double Defeat For Bees

Beeston lost to Reading in the Mens Hockey Premier Division 2-1 on Sunday as the Women lost a day earlier at the Nottingham Hockey Centre against top of the table Surbiton by three goals to one.

Beeston Women fought well against the league leaders and after going behind on 19 minutes levelled through Augustina Fernandez Melo a minute into the second half but the away side came through too strong twice netting to go six points clear at the top of the table prior to the leaguews winter break.

The Men were beaten by two Harrison Smith first half goals for Reading despite Elliot Barton scoring nine minutes from time the Bees couldn’t force a leveller.

In the Mens Division One North Nottingham University were beaten 3-1 by the University of Birmingham whilst top of the table University of Nottingham Women maintained their 100% winning record in the Investec Womens Conference North after beatingsecond place Sutton Coldfield 5-0.

With the season now taking a mid-term winter break next action will be 15th February when Beeston women take on Clifton Robinson’s at home whilst the Men travel a day later to Old Georgians in Surrey.
