Bingham Through As Southwell Stay Level With Rangers

In the Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League, supported by Euro Soccer Company, the Premier Division leaders on Saturday morning, Bingham Town, were in Notts FA Senior Cup action against Ashland Rovers of the Central Midlands League.  The NSL side were convincing 4-1 victors thanks to a brace from Tom Spencer and a goal each for Euan Sweeting and Jake Hardy thereby setting up an intriguing clash with Carlton Town in the next round.

Bingham’s cup exploits gave Woodthorpe Park Rangers an opportunity to steal top spot and they duly did so with a 3-1 win over reigning champions Stapleford Town.  Darren Oldham scored for Rangers either side of Harry Oldershaw’s free kick for Town in the first half.  Markell Bailey sealed the win late on.

Southwell City are level on points with Woodthorpe at the top following their 2-0 win at Burton Joyce thanks to second half goals from Ant Brown and Ben Selby.  Danny Blanchard, Kieron Diver, George Harrison and Alex Beno were all on target for AFC Dunkirk in their 4-1 win at Bilborough Town; Wiktor Majewski with the home side’s reply.

Two goals apiece for Stephen Chaplin and Dan Chadwick gave Wollaton a 4-0 win at Calverton Miners Welfare while Lucus Cotterill scored a first half hat trick and Kyle Waddell a brace in the second period for Cotgrave in their 5-1 victory against Magdala Amateurs.

After being 3-1 down at Keyworth United, Awsworth Villa battled back to claim a 3-3 draw with goals from Ben Watson, Daniel Roberts and Danny Carter.  Roberts had previously put through his own net to give Keyworth the lead with Lee Potts and Jake Fisher adding to their tally.

Sandiacre Town edged past Attenborough 4-3.  Jack Warner both scored and got sent off for Sandiacre; Jordan Leonardi (2) and Thomas Mellors were also on target.  Adam Martin, Thomas O’Regan and Kieran Whalin netted for Boro.

A James Hallam penalty put Aslockton & Orston ahead early in their encounter with Eastwood CFC Development but the visitors struck back soon after through Isaac Anderson-Raymond.  A Chris Aldred header put Aslockton back in front after the break but Eastwood equalised again when Mitchell Williams converted a penalty.  A James Langridge free kick with five minutes to go meant Aslockton picked up all three points in a 3-2 win.

AFC Top Valley maintained their 10 point lead in Division One as they edged past Hucknall Town Development 3-2 while second placed West Bridgford AFC won 4-1 at Kirton Brickworks.

Ruddington Village are two points behind West Bridgford with two games in hand following their 3-0 win at Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves.

Beeston continued the form that saw them crowned Euro Soccer Company Division One Team of the Month for December as they won 2-0 at Bridgford United.

Gedling Southbank beat Radcliffe Olympic 1-0 while Southwell City Reserves came from two down to draw 2-2 at Wollaton Reserves.

Ravenshead saw off Robin Hood Colts 3-0.

The results in Division Two were notable for the fact that in each of the six fixtures the home side scored two goals.  For league leaders United Grays this was in the form of a 2-0 win at home to AFC Dunkirk Reserves.

Stapleford Town Reserves, in second, and Ruddington Village Reserves, in third, both won 2-1 against Keyworth United Reserves and Asha respectively.

Cotgrave Reserves’ 4-2 victory at Clifton All Whites Development included a goal for David Cyrek which meant he has netted for the Cotgrave club at least once in each of the last four decades.

Elston United came from behind to win 3-2 at Beeston Old Boys Association and Barrowby beat Bingham Town Reserves 2-0.
