Nine Men Notts Through To Quarter Finals

Yeovil Town 1-2 Notts County (FA Trophy Round Three) 08.02.20

Notts County are through to the last eight of the Buildbase FA Trophy after beating Yeovil at Huish Park in the end with just nine men.

Conell Rawlinson put Notts 1-0 up on just seven minutes a lead they would keep into the second half before extending through Kyle Wootton on 69 and despite a late rally from Yeovil the Magpies would cling on to victory taking them a step nearer to a first ever ‘new’ Wembley final.

It was the perfect start for the away side when Rawlinson headed home early doors and in a fiesty first 45 the Magpies would be reduced to ten men after Wes Thomas hit out at Yeovil’s Wilkinson who went down clutching his face for the Referee to award the Notts striker a straight red for his troubles.

Notts reduced Yeovil to nothing more than speculative efforts in the second half as the ten men defended perfectly before substitute Wootton doubled the advantage crashing a shot in off the bar with just over twenty minutes to play.

Yeovil pushed and reduced the lead back to one when Duffus pegged the Magpies back on 77 with Damien McCrory injured during the build up. Notts eventually playing the remainder of the game with nine men with the Glovers throwing everything at their opponents to no avail. A magnificent performance when up against it Notts are through to the Quarter Finals now just two games from a first visit to the famous Wembley arch having last played their under the twin towers during the mid nineties.

For Manager Neal Ardley delighted with his teams determined performance he stated “we won the game today with sheer heart, guts and incredible energy”
