County Through To Semi Finals
Notts County have made it through to the semi-finals of the Nottinghamshire FA Senior Cup after a young Magpies side beat Newark Town of the Central Midlands League.
The National League men took the lead on 13 minutes through an Alex Howes penalty before Lewis Chambers levelled for Newark from the spot on the stroke of half time after Daryl Price was fouled.
In the second half the power and fitness of Notts young side came through as first Tyreace Palmer on 70 minutes and then three minutes later Kieran Cummings netted to ensure the Magpies join Carlton Town and Newark Flowserve as the third team to make the last four.
The final place will be decided next Wednesday as Nottingham Forest U23’s travel to Teversal.
Special mention to the crowd at Newark Town FC last night as in attendance at Bowbridge Road was a huge number of 752 people witnessing a fine performance by the home side and some clinical finishing from the visitors.
Newark’s joint Manager Luke Parsons stating “After all the struggles the club have had over the last few years the club has never given up and games like these are the rewards for everyones continued hard work”.
Elsewhere in the East Midlands Counties League last night Sherwood Colliery continued their fine run of form by beating Leicestershire based Ingles 3-1 away from home. Lewis Weaver adding a couple to Carter Widdowson’s first half opener before Ingles replied with a consolation. Sherwood are currently second in the table a point behind Eastwood Community but with three games in hand.
