Notts Sign Striker Wilson

Notts County have signed Scott Wilson from Oldham Athletic in a loan move that will hopefully help boost the Magpies goalscoring threat.

27 year old Wilson joins the Magpies on loan until the end of the season having been no stranger to the National League scoring 14 goals for Macclesfield Town in their championship winning season in 2017/18.

Out of favour in recent weeks at the Latics, Wilson hasn’t featured for Dino Maamria’s struggling League Two side since mid-January and after appearing 21 times in the league scoring just twice he’ll be looking for more service from a Notts team that has struggled at times to find the net this season.

The clubs assistant Manager Neil Cox on signing Wilson stated “Scott’s been on our radar for a little while and, with another game being postponed and the games coming thick and fast on heavy pitches, we felt like we needed to act quickly to add some fresh legs.”

“He can score goals but he’s a team player who holds the ball up, runs in behind and isn’t too selfish in front of goal.”

“On top of that, I’ve spoken to a couple of people who say he’s a really good character who’ll be looking forward to this challenge.”

Bristol born Wilson is eligible to play against Aveley in the FA Trophy and could be in line for a home debut as early as tomorrow.
