Beeston Ladies 1st team have reached the final of the England Hockey Championships after their semi-final opponent Hampstead & Westminster withdrew from the competition.
The Bees beat the University of Nottingham on Sunday on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the Quarter Finals to reach the last four which was due to be played this weekend but the withdrawal from their opponents means that they now have a bye and will play the winners of Clifton Robinsons verses Bowdon at the Lee Valley Tennis and Hockey Centre on Saturday 9th May.
In the Investec Womens Hockey Premier Division Beeston were beaten 2-0 at home to East Grinstead on Saturday and will go into their final league match of the season at Hampstead & Westminster this Saturday in seventh place in the table knowing a win could take them as high as fifth but a defeat could see them drop as low as ninth in the final standings.
In the Mens Hockey League it is also the final round of Premier Division fixtures with Beeston looking to bounce back after a big defeat last weekend against champions Surbiton. The sixth placed Bees who lost 7-1 on Sunday like the ladies face Hampstead & Westminster who will be battling for the runners up place ahead of Wimbledon who are third and just two points below them.
