Is Golf The Answer… For Now?

Lavished with greenery, bestowed with fresh air and away from the crowds it seems that one way of getting your sporting fix during these hard and quiet times might be to play golf?

OK an elder persons sport true, we might be concerned that by not self-isolating we could be doing more harm than good as we bravely attempt to get out in the open with wider potential to catch and spread infection to those of a generation above but under current government guidelines (for now at least) we can currently still use some of our local facilities.

The Nottinghamshire were keen to re-assure members today that although competitions have been postponed it is business as usual with both courses open all be it with some precautions in place.

The Nottinghamshire stated “Although limiting social exposure is recommended, continuing to exercise, and enjoying outdoor activity will play a key part in keeping us all healthy.”

The club stated they will be enforcing social distancing in its clubhouse and have asked all members over the age of 70 to follow the guidelines outlined by the Government.

Elsewhere The Springwater club at Calverton have stated they are taking all necessary steps to ensure high standards of hygiene are upheld and to encourage people for a round of golf with them, in the fresh air.

Worksop Golf Club in the North of the County have stated it is ‘business as usual’ today with the course open with the clubhouse, bar and pro shop also open to members and visitors although the club state that people should be sensible about stopping non-essential contact with others.

It is advisable to contact your local golf club before you head out as the situation on playing the sport is ever-changing but until it is ruled otherwise you might just get your sporting fix with a round of 18 holes at one of the counties lushest and greenest of sporting arenas.
