Sabri Lamouchi is to extend his love affair with Nottingham Forest after yesterday announcing that he has accepted a contract extension to stay at the City Ground for a little while longer yet.
The actual terms of the contract are undisclosed but Lamouchi who was originally given a 12 month deal upon arrival last summer has always been determined to stay longer and as his original contract drew to a close it made perfect sense for club and coach to agree to renew their relationship further.
A huge fans favourite since replacing Martin O’Neill last July, Lamouchi in his 11 months in charge has lead Forest to a playoff spot thus far and the Frenchman has built a competitive team, one of which is a front runner for promotion and one that is once again challenging at the right end of the Championship table after too many years of under achievement.
Lamouchi’s style and swagger has provided faith and trust to many fans at the club all excited by the news of him putting pen to paper again and despite often setting up his team harder to beat than being more pleasing on the eye the philosophy has always been to play football the right way, simple, effective, and with a touch of class which he no doubt brings.
Following his new contract Lamouchi stated “I am honoured to be staying at this fantastic football club. It was always my intention to stay here for a long period when I signed last year.”
“We have started to build a good team with fantastic characters and I am so pleased to be able to continue on my journey with them. I feel humbled by the level of support the fans have shown me since I arrived on day one and I am truly grateful for this.”
“I am also thankful for the backing of our owner, Mr Marinakis, whose support for both myself and the team has been exceptional from the very beginning.”
