It was a great weekend for Cavaliers & Carrington who won the Dan Sutton Trophy after beating Papplewick & Linby on the final on Sunday at Hucknall Cricket Club.
After winning the toss and electing to bat Cavs managed 212 from their 40 overs with Adam Tilcock star of the show hitting 73 not out from 51 after coming in at number five.
A stint of three wickets for 30 runs in eight overs by Daniel Blathewick kept the score down to a chasable target but P&L fell well short on the day only managing 168 from 37.2 overs as the side lost all their wickets in reply.
Papplewick’s Sam Ogrizovic top scored on 36 but Cavs Raheem Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers taking 3/14 as they won the cup by 44 runs.
Cavaliers path to the final was made by a 15 run win over Kimberley Institute on Saturday as Adeel Shafique scored 47 en-route to the Carrington based side scoring 204 from their 40 overs faced.
In reply Kimberley hit 189 for the loss of eight wickets with Tom Rowe hitting 61 and Matt Taylor 48 with three wickets from Raheem Ahmed starting what was a good weekend for him.
In the other semi-final Papplewick & Linby came through convincingly against Radcliffe-on-Trent. After scoring 234/6 with Ben Trevor-Jones hitting 84 Radcliffe were bowled out for 127 with Christopher Glover in fine form taking 4/26.
