Outlaws End North Group With Victory

Notts Outlaws 150/6-132 Durham (T20 Blast North Group) 20.09.20

Nottinghamshire ended their Vitality Blast North Group campaign with a win to top the group and more importantly they cement a home tie in the Quarter Finals of the competition after beating Durham on Sunday.

The Outlaws managed 150 from their twenty overs in a under par score but it was the Notts bowlers who came to the rescue in brilliantly bowling out the visitors for 132.

Notts lost Hales (4) early doors and when Nash went for 13 the home side were 23/2 but Joe Clarke and Ben Duckett as they usually do scored vital quick runs before Clarke was  taken for 22.

A partnership of 49 between Duckett and Moores looked to edge Notts back in favour before the Notts wicket keeper went for 24 and Duckett followed shortly after on 29. Dan Christian then went for 13 with Notts 119/6 but Imad Wasim (26 not out) and Steven Mullaney (16 not out) provided a vital partnership to take the Outlaws to 150.

That score looked reachable for Durham but when Clark went for one off Carter in the first over it gave Notts the glimmer they were looking for. Lees and Raine seemed to steady the ship but a Wasim masterclass turned the match around as first Raine, Lees, then Bedingham went for the loss of just one run. Durham from 36/1 were suddenly 37/4.

Behardien and Carse looked to settle the nerves with a partnership to take Durham to 78/4 before Christian took the wicket of Behardien and Carse would follow an over later thanks to Mullaney.

Steel was next sun out by Wasim and Coughlin followed caught Ball bowled Patel with the visitors 85/8.

A late rally from Trevaskas who ended 31 not out was backed up by Potts before Ball saw him off and when Rimmington went at the start of the final over Notts were 18 runs in front.

A cracking way to see off the league format with Notts winning seven matches losing one and with two no results topping the table by four clear points. Next up is the Quarter Finals and Leicestershire at Trent Bridge who incidentally, are the only side to beat Notts this season so far.
