Beeston Hockey Club have announced that Canadian Internationals Sukhi Panesar and Vikram Sandhu will be joining the club after both players completed their quarantine period and passed fitness tests today ahead of joining the Nottingham based team.
Panesar is an Olympian who made the Canadian side for the Rio Olympics in 2016 and joins Beeston having played last season at HTC Uhlenhorst Mulheim in Germany with Sandhu also joining from German Hockey having played last season with HTC Schwarz-Weiss Neuss.
The pair are both preparing to play in the Tokyo Olympic games for Canada next summer in a tournament that has been postponed to 2021 following the global pandemic of covid.
Bees Deputity Chairman David Griffiths said of these two huge signings “We are thrilled to welcome Sukhi and Vikram to Beeston Hockey Club. They will bring a wealth of international experience to the squad and will strengthen the squad further ahead of this weekends fixtures.”
Beeston face Durham University at the Nottingham Hockey Centre on Sunday with a 2pm start with entrance from £5 per adult whilst U18’s are free.
In action tomorrow are the Women’s 1st XI who travel to the University of Birmingham having last time out won their first match of the season in a 4-0 thumping of Swansea at Highfields.
