Covid Cases At AFC

AFC Mansfield have postponed their next proposed fixture which was scheduled for Tuesday night (27th October) against Barton Town after a number of the clubs coaching staff and players tested positive for covid-19.

The club also postponed their U21’s league game against Dronfield Town tonight as an extra precaution towards taking safety measures.

Matt Chatfield’s side are currently sixth in the Northern Counties East League and with a game in hand on most around them including leaders Yorkshire Amateur who they lost to in the last minute on the opening day of the season 0-1, they are just six points off top spot after some cracking results this campaign thus far.

The last three games have seen Mansfield score 16 goals and concede just once with a 6-1 win at Goole followed by back-to-back 5-0 thumping’s of Athersley Recreation and Garforth Town at the Forest Town Arena.

Ross Duggan leads the way with the goals and already has nine for the season including a hat-trick at Goole followed by braces in the following match wins.

The continuation of form follows a fantastic run in the FA Cup where Mansfield reached the second qualifying round losing 4-2 against Boston United but en-route they saw off Gainsborough Trinity 3-0 in a cup upset as well as Cleethorpes Town and Sherwood Colliery.

Mansfield will now go into an enforced break playing catch up on the sides in and around them with the next proposed match in the first round of the FA Vase on Octobber 31st against Stone Old Alleynians who play in the North West Counties League.
