Talking Reds – New Forest Book Launch For Powerchair

A new Nottingham Forest book featuring ten City Ground legends has gone on sale to help raise money for the club’s Powerchair team.

‘Talking Reds’ features chapters by Garibaldi greats including Steve Chettle, Bryan Roy, Mark Crossley and Chris Bart-Williams, telling their stories of life with the Tricky Trees.

Author Keith Harrison, a football writer and Leader in Residence at the University of Central Lancashire, said: ‘It’s a great read for Forest fans, taking you right inside the dressing room for some of the biggest games in the club’s history.

‘There are loads of fantastic tales about Brian Clough obviously, but also some interesting stories about many other managers and former players, too.

‘There are first-hand accounts of Cup Finals, European nights, promotions and relegations – so the highs and the lows are all covered and the chapters are straight from the horses’s mouths, written by the people that were there.’

Ten per cent of any profits from the book will go to Nottingham Forest Powerchair FC, which plays in the Muscular Dystrophy UK Powerchair Championship and features players in powered wheelchairs, playing a skilful and fast-paced game of football.

A spokesman for the club said: ‘We’re all really chuffed by the book. It looks great and we hope it does really well.’

Keith added: ‘The book has only just gone on sale, but people are already snapping it up as a Christmas present and the first reviews have already come back very positive – apparently, it will make you laugh and cry. I hope that’s a good thing!’

Some of the other players in the book include League Cup-winning hero Nigel Jemson, former Player of the Year David Phillips, Jason Lee and Ian Woan.

The foreword has been written by former Forest caretaker boss Gary Brazil, who is now Director of Football Development at the club.

Keith added: ‘We’ve had great support from the former players, so we’d like to thanks everyone for their help.’

The book is available on Amazon and also at a discounted launch price of £9.99 from www.talkingredsbook.com
