Nottingham Hoods will return to action for their second match of the new season this weekend as Ben Stanley’s side take on Loughborough Riders after more than a fortnight in isolation for some of their players ahead of the game.
Stanley himself said earlier this week in preparation “It’s a been a bit tough, we’ve all been in isolation for a few weeks, I think the guys have being going a bit crazy, I’ve certainly been going a bit crazy but it’s great to be out and training again”.
Nottingham won their first match of the campaign against Oaklands Wolves at the end of October and a win against the Riders who are 0-2 will strengthen their position in a competition that has been held back and stop start due to the impact of coronavirus.
Recent signing Tolu Babola stated ahead of the match “heading into the first home game of the season we’re pretty excited, we’ve got a good chance against a pretty good team and it’s a great opportunity to show how good we are in the league”
Equally as hungry to see his side in action Coach Stanley relayed “I’m really excited to see how we match up with them (Loughborough), a lot of our guys are from University programmes at NTU, so it’s really interesting to see how we’ll match up, we know it’ll be tough, we know they’ll be a good team, we know they’ll be well drilled so we’ve got to really execute our game plan and make sure we do the right things.”
The match is behind closed doors but will be available to watch on YouTube with a link available via Twitter prior to its 6pm start and we’ll aim to keep you up to date on @SportNottm or you can find out directly through the @hoodsbasketball page.
As well as Nottingham Hoods being in NBL action this weekend Nottingham Wildcats will also be in action as they travel to Leicester Riders in the WBBL Cup.
The match again behind closed doors tips off at 1pm and will be shown live on the WBBL YouTube channel which can be found here
