Notts Safely Through To Fourth Round

Morpeth Town 0-3 Notts County (FA Trophy Round Three) 19.12.20

Neal Ardley’s Magpies made it safely through to the fourth round of the Buildbase FA Trophy after a comfortable win at Northern Premier League outfit Morpeth.

The Notts Manager gave a number of his fringe players the opportunity to show what they can do and they dually obliged in what ended to be a comprehensive victory for the National League outfit who made last season’s semi-finals of the competition.

Elisha Sam gave County an early lead after six minutes drilling a hard shot low that beat the goalkeeper at the near post and that was the way the match would stay until the half time interval.

In the second half Sam Graham evaded his marker from a deep curled in corner to head low at the back post for number two shortly before the hour and as the home side pressed for a consolation, Notts cleared a Morpeth corner on 64 minutes and clinically attacked on the break to send Jimmy Knowles one on one with the striker coolly rounding the keeper to slot home.

Notts victory see’s them into the hat and on Monday they’ll find out their fate in the draw for the fourth round.
